Nannie The young witch from 'Tam o'Shanter' who danced the dance of witches in her scanty 'cutty sark' (short shift).

Nannie stood out like a beacon amongst the wizened hags in the coven and so enchanted Tam that he yelled out, 'Weel done, Cutty Sark!' - an act of stupidity which blew his cover and brought the hordes of hell down on him and his trusty steed.
But Tam kend what was what fu brawlie
There was ae winsome wench and wawlie
That night enlisted in the core,
(Lang after kend on Carrick shore:
For monie a beast to dead she shot,
And perished mony a bonnie boat
And shook baith meikle corn and bear,
And held the countryside in fear)........

.......To sing how Nannie lap and flang
(A souple jade she was, and strang)
And how Tam stood like ane bewitched,
And thought his very een enrich'd.
