Richard de Burgh, Earl of Ulster

Knight
Bannockburn English (Dark) Side
Available only with complete set

Richard de Burgh, Earl of Ulster Many among the ranks of the great English army were Ulstermen, rallied in the English cause over decades by Irish noblemen like de Burgh, supporting the Plantagenets' ambitions in return for recognition within their own country and promised freedom from the threat of invasion.

Richard de Burgh was father of Elizabeth, wife of his sworn enemy and son-in-law, Robert the Bruce. So it was, in this greatest of ironies, that they faced each other across the field of Bannockburn. As English dreams and ambitions died in bloody defeat, it was De Burgh who aided Pembroke to spirit the defeated English king away from the battlefield to safety.
