There are often times in a year when we have more birthdays or assorted anniversaries than at others. For example, I have a whole raft in February and March, through to end of April and again from beginning of September through to end of Ocober. These require very careful attention to the diary with a necessarily well organised plan for ordering and posting cards and giftware well in advance and at the most advantageous cost. Posting anything in this country is now a huge expense – an example . . before Christmas I found the perfect card for family based in the US; the card cost £2.30 and the postage was a mad £2.60. Whereas when I select a card from one of the many online outlets, I can select ‘purchase for delivery in US’, personalise it and have it arrive on the day for a whole £3.19 or thereabouts. I can also have giftware delivered there from US sources – of course, that’s not always quite as straightforward as some retail outlets do not cover the entire continent. However, it is great to be able to go on a genuine store site and know that the item I choose for relatives will be wrapped and sent properly for a fraction of the price, should I have sourced and posted in the UK. The relatives gets far more bang for my buck shall we say!
